As per the resolutions, the federal government has expressed its dedication to paying a minimum wage that exceeds N60,000.
The resolution has specified that the tripartite Committee will convene daily for the upcoming week to reach a mutually agreeable National Minimum Wage.
Significantly, they have added that organized labor will promptly convene a meeting to discuss the federal government’s commitment.
“In recognition of the esteemed position of the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and the commitment of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as mentioned above, labor undertakes to immediately convene a meeting of its members to consider this commitment. Furthermore, no worker shall face any form of victimization due to the industrial action,” a section of the resolution stated.
A senior executive from organized labor, who wishes to remain anonymous, informed DAILY POST that workers will suspend the indefinite strike and resume negotiations with the government.
“Without a doubt, organized labor will suspend the indefinite strike on Tuesday to continue negotiations with the tripartite committee. This decision aligns with the commitment obtained from the government after the meeting with the SGF,” he stated.
Meanwhile, a previous meeting between organized labor and the leadership of the National Assembly concluded without reaching an agreement.
Consequently, workers initiated an indefinite strike on Monday, 3 June, due to the government’s failure to implement the minimum wage and reverse the electricity tariff hike.
