Following the death of five soldiers on Wednesday at a checkpoint in Aba, Abia, the Military High Command has vowed to apply tremendous pressure to the banned Independent Peoples of Biafra, or IPOB.
This was announced in a statement released in Abuja on Friday by Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations.
According to Buba, the military would respond to the heinous deed with ferocity and would put tremendous military pressure on the gang to guarantee their complete destruction.
He claimed that terrorists from IPOB/ESN attacked and tragically killed Operation UDO KA troops stationed at the Obikabia Junction Checkpoint in Obingwa Local Government Areas, adjourning Aba city in Abia.
He claimed that the terrorists had gathered and attacked the forces stationed to maintain local calm and safeguard the populace.

According to him, the checkpoint was unexpectedly attacked by terrorists from the built-up regions surrounding it, as well as from three Prado Toyota SUVs with tinted windows.
Five military soldiers tragically lost their lives as a result of the incident.
The military laments these soldiers’ deaths because every soldier lost in combat is a tragic loss.
Investigations into the attack are still proceeding in the interim.
All things considered, it is imperative to restate that the people are the terrorists’ lifeline, and this circumstance is not an exception.
“It is nearly hard to win a battle without the support of the people, and the IPOB took advantage of this to assault the military.
“There is room for improvement in this circumstance.
The military must thus take immediate action to avenge this heinous atrocity on troops.
“The military would react with ferocity. “We would apply tremendous military force on the group to guarantee their complete defeat,” he declared.
