Military eliminates 106 terrorists and captures 103

The Defence Headquarters reported that within the past week, a total of 106 terrorists were eliminated by the troops, while 103 were successfully apprehended in various operations across the country.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj-Gen. Edward Buba, disclosed this information during a statement released on Friday in Abuja, providing an update on the ongoing military activities.

Additionally, Buba mentioned that the troops were able to capture 22 individuals involved in oil theft activities and successfully rescued 96 individuals who had been kidnapped.

Furthermore, a significant number of weapons, including 171 assorted firearms and 2,452 rounds of ammunition, were recovered by the troops during these operations.

The recovered weapons included a variety of firearms such as AK47 rifles, pump-action rifles, locally fabricated guns, dane guns, pistols, and more.

The troops also seized ammunition like 7.62mm special ammo, 7.62mm NATO rounds, live cartridges, and various other types of ammunition.

Alongside the weapons, the troops also confiscated magazines, vehicles, motorcycles, mobile phones, radios, and a sum of money during the operations.

In the North East region, the troops of Operation Hadin Kai were able to neutralize 38 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, rescue 16 kidnap victims, and recover a significant amount of arms and ammunition.

Furthermore, a total of 46 terrorists, including men, women, and children, surrendered to the troops within the theatre of operations between March 13 and March 19.

Moving to the North Central region, the troops of Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke successfully eliminated seven violent extremists, apprehended 27 individuals, rescued eight kidnap victims, and seized a large cache of weapons during their operations.

The efforts of the troops in these regions have significantly contributed to enhancing security and combating terrorism across the nation.
