Rumours of opposition groups seeking to unite into a single mega party, according to sociopolitical pundit Shehu Sani, are advantageous for Nigeria’s democracy.
After losing to the All Progressives Congress, the party in power, in the recently held elections, he claimed that the opposition parties appeared to have learned their lessons.
On Monday morning, the former Kaduna Central Senator made this statement via his Twitter account.
The rumour that the opposition is trying to band together is positive for democracy, he wrote, adding that now that the earthquake has passed, they are studying geography.
The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), and the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), as well as a breakaway faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), came together to form the All Progressives Congress (APC) on February 6, 2013.
