Reality personality Mercy Eke has appealed for assistance after Heritage Bank’s operating licence was revoked by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), claiming that she had over N100 million in her Heritage Bank account.

Eke clarified that she created the account as a result of the bank supporting her victory in the fourth season of Big Brother Naija.

She also accused her account manager of “luring” her into the bank to fix her money even though she was aware of the problems there.

Eke posted the following on her X handle on Thursday: “I honestly don’t know how to react to this. I’ve been holding out hope and believing there’s a way out. [Tag with a hash] HeritageBank

One of the fans posted, “OMG Lambo, hope you don’t have an account with them,” in the comment section. In response, Eke said, “I do… and go beyond 100 metres with them.

“Why did you open an account with them in the first place?” inquired a different enthusiast. and the reality star retorted, “That was the bank that sponsored Bbn during my set; we were urged to create an account with them in order for them to pay our money. Foolishly, I funded the account anyway. Don’t worry, I’m currently overwhelmed with regrets.

“What is your account manager saying?” enquired a worried admirer.

“She lured me into fixing my money, knowing full well there’s been issues with the bank,” Mercy Eke retorted. I feel sorry for her, but I also blame myself.

In an effort to get her money back, the reality star also said that she has sent a notice to the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Commission.

The Nigerian Deposit Insurance Commission recently paid bank depositors and verified information to start the liquidation process of Heritage Bank.

The NDIC did clarify, though, that people with less than N5 million will receive their return first.
