Mercy Eke: My mother tried to abort me

Mercy Eke, the Season 4 winner of Big Brother Naija, has claimed that her mother attempted to terminate the pregnancy that gave birth to her.

This was revealed by the reality star in a recent interview with popular media personality Chude Jideonwo.

She claimed that one of her aunts persuaded her mother to terminate the pregnancy because she already had five children.

“When she [my mother] was pregnant, there was this aunty of mine,” Eke explained.She [my mother] has already had five children before having me. She has four daughters and one son. So, when my aunty arrived, she exclaimed, ‘Ah! Emilia, is this another pregnancy? With all of these kids you’ve thrown here.’

“So that messed up her [my mother’s] mental health.” It definitely bothered her that she wanted to get me out then. She was going to the farm, and she was going to climb something and make you fall so that I would go, but I’m stubborn, na. I’m not going anywhere. I’m gidigba.

“It was a true story.” She wants to get rid of me.”

The 32-year-old stated her mother recently told her the story.

“One day, she [my mother] was like, she wishes that person was alive to see what that girl she wanted to abort at the time has grown to become,” she explained. That’s how she told me the story.

“She is pleased with me. She is relieved that she did not have to remove or abort me. She is relieved that I did not perish. And she is thrilled since she gave birth to me even though she took a risk. Because my mother is now one of the happiest persons I know. My mum is currently sleeping. She is having a good time. She wakes up and eats anything she wants. So she’s pleased now.”
