The Kebbi State House of Assembly has taken the decision to suspend Hassan Umar, the representative of Birnin Kebbi North Constituency, due to what has been described as reckless statements made by him.
This action was confirmed in an official statement signed by Suleiman Shamaki, the Clerk of the House, which was released to the media on Monday.
The statement highlighted that Umar’s suspension was a direct consequence of his irresponsible comments and his involvement in inciting certain members against the leadership of the House.

The Clerk of the Assembly, Suleiman Shamaki, was quoted as saying, “I, Suleiman Shamaki, the Clerk of Kebbi State House of Assembly, have been instructed to notify the public that during the Executive Session held on Friday, April 12, 2024, the assembly unanimously agreed to suspend Hassan Umar, the representative of Birnin Kebbi North constituency, due to his reckless statements.”
Furthermore, the statement pointed out that the lawmaker had committed additional offenses, such as inciting members against the House leadership and creating discord between the Executive and the legislative branches within the House.
This move underscores the seriousness with which the Assembly views the actions of Hassan Umar and serves as a warning to other members regarding the consequences of making inflammatory remarks.
