The election of Peter Mbah as governor of Enugu State was upheld by the Supreme Court on Friday.

Uche Nnaji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, sought an appeal, which the court dismissed.

Nnaji and his party submitted an incorrect brief of argument, which rendered their appeal ineligible, the top court ruled in a unanimous ruling by a five-judge panel.

The court also remarked that Nnaji had not shown sufficient justification for relying on the illegal process he filed to render Mbah’s victory illegitimate.

In July, Nnaji’s case against Mbah was reportedly dismissed by the Enugu Court of Appeal, according to Obasanjonews24.

Nnaji contested governor Mbah’s win on the grounds that the majority of valid ballots cast did not properly elect him.
