May 29: Tinubu’s First Year Highlighted by Unmet Promises and Difficulties- Onyekpere
The lead director of the Centre for Social Justice, Eze Onyekpere, declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s first year in office was a disaster.
As Tinubu approaches his one-year anniversary in office, Onyekpere revealed this on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television.
He argued that the elimination of fuel subsidies, the harmonisation of the naira, and other economic initiatives of Tinubu’s government were poorly carried out.
“It has been a busy year, full of setbacks and disappointments. We hope it won’t happen again,” he remarked.

According to Onyekpere, the hunger and headline inflation rates have increased by 40.53 and 33.69 percent, respectively, and the impoverished Nigerians are experiencing the urge of financial distress.
He went on to say that if the president truly wanted the best for the nation, he should fire underperforming ministers.
The two policies that have had the biggest effects on Nigeria’s economy in the past year and a half, according to financial analysts, are the elimination of gasoline subsidies and the harmonisation of the naira.
