According to Garba Muhammad Datti, the vice chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North West, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, the former governor of Zamfara, will shortly return his position.
The State Minister for Defence at the moment is Matawalle.
According to Datti, the ruling of the appeals court, which removed Governor Dauda Lawal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), inspires confidence and optimism for a good decision from the Supreme Court.

According to OBASANJO NEWS24, on Friday, the Court of Appeal declared that Lawal’s victory in the March 18 election was void and ordered a repeat in three of the State’s local government districts.
APC Zonal Publicity Secretary (North West), Malam Musa Mailafiya Mada, released a statement in which Datti congratulated Matawalle on his decisive win and described it as an important step in regaining his mandate.
He stated that the ruling party’s challenge to the PDP’s triumph at the tribunal is vindicated by the victory.
Datti went on to say that the appeal court’s stance—that the tribunal mishandled the evidence and that the appellants had produced reliable evidence—speaks volumes about their belief that the court represents the last resort for the average person.
