Former Zamfara State Governor Matawalle has issued a bold warning to informants aiding bandits, declaring that their time is up as security forces ramp up efforts to curb criminal activities.
Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, has urged informants aiding bandits to reconsider their actions and repent; otherwise, they risk facing severe consequences in the ongoing efforts to address insecurity in the Northwest.
The minister made the statement on Thursday during an operational visit to areas of security concern in Sokoto State, such as Gundumi, Hawan Durum village, and Isa and Sabon Birni Local Government Areas.
The visit aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s directives to eliminate bandits in the Northwest.

Matawalle stated that the operation has been hugely successful so far, having resulted in the deaths of several notorious bandit kingpins in the area.
Over the years, several villages along this axis have been abandoned by their residents due to an increase in insecurity.
The Minister urged the townspeople to have faith in God and support the Federal Government in this struggle, emphasizing that informants are a significant factor contributing to insecurity in the area.
He motivated the troops to keep up their excellent work and assured them of the Federal Government’s full support.
