“The two vessels would to help in the fight against insecurity on our waterways in particular and the nation in general,” the Minister reportedly informed the President, according to a statement released on Friday by Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Press, Information, and Public Relations.

The minister clarified, “The two unmanned ships were a donation from Swift Ship Company in the USA to the Nigerian Government.”

He introduced the two equipment models, the S2 and S3 Swift Sea Stalkers, and stated that the cutting-edge tools would be used to combat insurgency in the Niger Delta, Lake Chad Region, and other coastal areas of the nation.

Recall that the minister just returned from a working tour to the US, where she visited high-tech military hardware manufacturers NEANY, Swift Ships, and OCR Global.

The minister added that one benefit of his business visits to several US companies was the donation of the vessels.

Matawalle hinted to Tinubu that the tour’s goal was to promote cutting-edge technologies that would improve the effectiveness of the Nigerian military in dealing with today’s security issues.

Furthermore, the minister stated that the goal was to support US companies collaborating with Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) to produce military hardware domestically in Nigeria.

According to Matawalle, the recently formed alliance would give Nigeria the chance to study cutting-edge techniques for producing military hardware, which is consistent with Tinubu’s goal of securing the country.

The minister also informed the President that, among other things, he had examined a small biometric search-scan system, an unmanned water vehicle, a drone ground control station, and a quick deployment mobile RADAR system while in the US.

He gave the President confidence that the state-of-the-art military and intelligence hardware capabilities will be very helpful in the battle against insecurity in Nigeria.
