Massive Drug Cache Found at Lagos Shrine and Underground Storage by NDLEA
NDLEA agents uncovered a major drug stash hidden at a shrine and in an underground storage site in Lagos, marking a significant victory in Nigeria’s anti-drug efforts. Learn more about the bust.
In a major operation, agents from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) discovered substantial amounts of illegal drugs at various sites throughout Lagos.
The operation conducted over the weekend focused on an Igbo-Igunuko shrine at Alfa Beach in Ajah and an underground storage site in Lekki.
The NDLEA announced the seizure of 2,760kg of cannabis from a shrine in Ajah. The strain is suspected to be the Ghanaian variety known as “Loud.” Two suspects, Gbenga Abiodun and Sunday Abiodun, were arrested in relation to this discovery.

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, agents uncovered a hidden underground storage facility in the bedroom of Muhammad Warnos Abdullahi on Marwa Coastal Road, Lekki Phase 1. This search led them to discover 11,786 pills of controlled substances such as tramadol, molly, rohypnol, diazepam along with 64 bottles of codeine syrup.
The hidden underground compartment, ingeniously concealed beneath a padlocked iron slate and further disguised with a rug and mattress, was crafted to avoid detection.
