Massive Drone and Missile Attack Hits Kyiv

Kyiv faces extensive damage as Russia unleashes a powerful wave of drones and missiles, escalating tensions and posing significant risks to civilians.

Kyiv, along with various other cities across the country, was bombarded by a series of drones and cruise as well as ballistic missiles courtesy of Russia.

Ukraine’s air force reported that a number of explosions occurred in the early hours of Monday, causing residents to seek refuge in bomb shelters. Additionally, Kharkiv and other cities were subjected to air strikes.

Emergency services were summoned by Kyiv’s Mayor, Vitali Klitschko, to the Holosiivskyi and Solomianskyi districts. There was a report of one person hurt after debris fell in Shevchenkivsky district.

According to Serhiy Popko, the chief of Kyiv’s military administration, Ukraine’s air defense successfully intercepted and demolished over 10 cruise missiles, nearly a dozen ballistic missiles along with an unmanned aerial vehicle launched at both Kiev and its surrounding areas.

The Ukrainian military reported that they had successfully taken out 22 missiles and 20 of the total number of attack drones, which was 23 in count. The strikes were carried out across multiple regions including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro Poltava Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia.

The head of the Kharkiv region, Oleh Syniehubov, verified that a strike occurred in the Industrialnyi district during early morning hours.

The onslaught occurred one day after the Russian military announced that it had intercepted and eliminated 158 Ukrainian drones that were aimed at various regions in Russia. This attack by Ukraine is among the largest ones during the two-year-long ongoing war.
