In order to prevent anything that could cause a marriage to end, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party for the 2023 elections, has instructed the couples participating in the state government’s mass wedding programme not to check their spouses’ phones.
In his remarks at the reception the state government hosted for the couples on Saturday at the government house in Kano State, Kwankwaso offered the advice.
He advised them to avoid doing anything that would lead to conflicts among them, claiming that married couples examining one other’s phones is one of the main reasons for marriage dissolution in the nation.
“Everyone and their brother has given you advice. You’ve received advice, in my opinion, a thousand times over. Your ulama, parents, family, and even fellow businesspeople have given you advice on how to coexist peacefully.
“However, I just have one bit of advice for you. That is looking through a spouse’s phone. Peeping into your spouse’s phone is a big reason why marriages end, so avoid doing it.
“We chose wisely when we chose Abba Kabir Yusuf to be our governor. He is a capable leader who has carried on our traditions. This large wedding leaves a lasting legacy.
In addition to this, he is completing projects with a large audience. We appeal to Kano State’s good citizens to support his administration, Kwankwaso added.
Governor Abba Yusuf stated in his speech that the recipients of the mass wedding were chosen from among the state’s 484 wards and 44 Local Government Areas.

Yusuf claimed that the government assumed complete responsibility for weddings, including dowry payments, furnishing the reception hall, providing food, and providing the brides with a N20,000 stipend to launch small businesses from the comfort of their new homes.
He exhorted the couples to coexist in harmony in accordance with Islamic teachings.
Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, the Commander General of the Kano Hisbah Board, stated earlier in his welcome speech that 1,500 couples got married on Friday.
Out of the 1,800 couples, 264, according to Daurawa, had their weddings postponed because they had been diagnosed with certain illnesses and were receiving medical care.
He promised to announce a new date for the weddings of the remaining 264 couples after taking the medication.
The Islamic cleric praised the state administration for the gesture and emphasised that the wedding plan had been carried out in accordance with the law and in a transparent manner.
