Adegboyega Oyetola, a former governor of Osun State, took the podium at 12:14 pm, just before the fourth round of screening started.
Former governors Simon Lalong (Plateau), Bello Matawalle (Zamfara), and Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi) are also in queue for screening.
Others include Zaphaniah Jisalo, Aliyu Abdullahi, Heineken Lokpobori, Bosun Tijani, Isiak Salako, Ibrahim Geidam, Lola John, Shuaibu Audu, Tahir Mamman, Aliyu Abdullahi, Alkali Saidu, and Yusuf Sununu.
However, Shetty’s name was removed from the additional list of ministerial nominees.
Three previous sessions came before this one, the first of which was held on Monday and involved the screening of 14 candidates out of the initial 28 ministerial nominees that the President had submitted last Thursday.
Former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike was among those who underwent screening, along with Abubakar Kyari of Borno State, Nkiruka Onyejeocha of Abia State, Bello Muhammad of Sokoto State, Sani Abubakar Danladi of Taraba State, and Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State.
Other states’ representatives are Yusuf Maitama Tuggar (Bauchi State), Olubunmi Tunji Ojo (Ondo State), Betta Edu (Cross River State), Uju Kennedy Ohaneye (Anambra State), Abubakar Momoh (Edo State), John Enoh (Cross River State), and Iman Suleiman Ibrahim (Benue State).
Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna and Dave Umahi of Ebonyi, as well as Wale Edun, Uche Nnaji, Stella Okotete, Adebayo Adelabu, Ekperikpe Ekpo, Hannatu Musawa, and Musa Dangiwa, were all among the nine nominees the Senate vetted on Tuesday.
The screening of presidential spokesperson Dele Alake, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Lateef Fagbemi, Muhammad Idris, Ali Pate, and Doris Uzoka took place on Wednesday as the exercise resumed.
Later, Tinubu’s additional ministerial list of 19 nominations was given to the Senate by the chief of staff to the president, Femi Gbajabiamila.
The President is required to designate at least one minister from each of the 36 states under Section 147(3) of the 1999 Constitution. 11 states, including the Federal Capital Territory and Adamawa, Bayelsa, Gombe, Kano, Kebbi, Kogi, Lagos, Osun, Yobe, Plateau, and Zamfara, do not yet have ministerial nominees.
