A BRT bus overturns in Lagos, with numerous passengers narrowly escaping serious injury or death. Emergency services are on the scene.
On Friday, an entire group of passengers onboard a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle had a close call when the bus overturned on the assigned BRT lane in Iyana Ipaja, Lagos. Fortunately, tragedy was avoided.
At least 10 passengers on board were injured, but luckily they survived.
The occurrence was explained by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), stating that it took place shortly after the bus had left Iyana Ipaja BRT park.

According to a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the vehicle owned by LASTMA hit an empty pedestrian bridge support near the Iyana Ipaja Bridge, resulting in the bus overturning onto its side.
The scene was promptly attended by emergency responders, including officials from LASTMA who provided aid to the victims and controlled traffic flow. The injured passengers have subsequently been treated for their injuries.
Due to the accident, there were notable traffic disruptions in the region which compelled officials to implement strategies for clearing up lanes and reinstating consistent traffic patterns. Drivers and commuters are advised to stay vigilant and comply with necessary regulations as attempts persist toward resolving this scenario.
