Manchester United has signed midfielder Manuel Ugarte from PSG. Learn more about the transfer and what he brings to the team.

The signing of Uruguay international midfielder Manuel Ugarte has been fully agreed upon by Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Ahead of the upcoming season, United’s midfield is anticipated to receive a significant boost from a deal worth £50.7 million (€60 million), including performance-based add-ons.

According to the agreement, Manchester United will make an upfront payment of £42.2 million (€50 million), and there’s a possibility for add-ons worth up to £8.5 million (€10 million) based on Ugarte’s performance.

It is anticipated that today the midfielder, aged 23 years old, will arrive in the UK for a medical examination and to finalize contractual negotiations with the team.

Last summer, PSG paid Sporting Lisbon €60 million for Ugarte. Initially, they wanted to regain the entire amount without considering bonuses.

Both clubs have come to a compromise, driven by their shared goal of finalizing the agreement.

The news about Manchester United’s desire to acquire Ugarte was initially aired on Sky Sports News on June 25th, and since then the team has been determinedly pursuing him throughout the transfer season.

It has been reported that United’s top choice for midfield is Ugarte, and they are content with the mutually agreed upon price. This sentiment comes as a relief after PSG had originally requested £50.7 million (€60 million) plus additional fees.

Manchester United’s perseverance during negotiations proved fruitful, as they were cognizant of PSG’s readiness to bargain and Ugarte’s keenness to join the Premier League team.

Manchester United’s key priority positions for the summer transfer window will be addressed when Ugarte’s signing is verified. The team has already improved their squad by acquiring new players in midfield, center-back, right-back and forward areas.
