Man Who Called for Tinubu’s Resignation Admitted to Psychiatric Hospital

The Adamawa State Police Command has announced that Abdullahi Mohammed, aged 30, who ascended a 33 kV high-tension electricity pole in Mayo-Belwa last Friday, has been hospitalized at Yola Psychiatric Hospital.for a mental examination.
In an exclusive interview with OBASANJONEWS on Friday, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, revealed that Mohammed is currently undergoing psychiatric evaluations at a facility within the specialist hospital premises in Yola.
Nguroje stated, “When the police from the Moyo-Belwa division rescued Abdullahi Mohammed from a 33kv high tension electricity pole, they found some hard drugs on him. Among these were green leaves that he admitted to being Indian hemp.”
The suspect also confessed to the authorities that he consumes Indian hemp along with other illicit substances. He was acting abnormally, so we had to take him to a psychiatric hospital for a thorough medical evaluation. We are still awaiting the results before proceeding further.”
Last Saturday night, the Adamawa Police Command successfully rescued and detained Mohammed after he climbed a 33kV high-tension electricity pole at Mayo-Belwa Local Government Headquarters. He refused to come down until President Bola Tinubu agreed to resign.

The command’s spokesperson, who described the man’s actions as suicidal, informed OBASANJONEWS that after persuading the suspect to descend from the high-tension electricity pole, it was clarified that attempting suicide is considered a criminal offense under Nigerian law.
“Attempting suicide is a criminal offense under our Constitution, so we will be taking him to court.”
Nguruje also mentioned to our correspondent that the police have a constitutional duty to protect lives and property. He emphasized that if any individual attempts to take their own life, they would be subject to legal consequences.
On the morning of last Friday, which was Mayo Belwa’s market day, a young man scaled the 33kv high tension electricity pole along the Yola-Jalingo highway. He declared that he would not descend until the Nigerian President vacated the presidential villa.
OBASANJONEWS investigations uncovered that the Adamawa Police Command enlisted the help of local residents, who successfully persuaded the man to come down on Saturday night.
Mohammed hails from the town of Gashaka in Taraba State.
