Saminu Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, confirmed the tragic incident involving a 60-year-old man named Malam Danjuma, his son Ibrahim, and Aminu Gaye.
The incident occurred when the three men got trapped inside a pit toilet while attempting to recover a cellphone.
Abdullahi mentioned that the Fire Service received an emergency call from Tsanyawa Fire Station reporting the situation at around 11:00 a.m. that day.
According to Abdullahi, the sequence of events unfolded as Danjuma first tried to retrieve the phone and ended up trapped, followed by his son Ibrahim who entered to rescue his father but also got stuck.

Subsequently, Gaye and Alasan entered the pit toilet to help the trapped individuals but unfortunately, they too became trapped.
The Fire Service managed to rescue the first three victims who were unconscious, while the fourth victim was successfully rescued alive.
All the victims were then handed over to the police for further assistance.
The police then took them to Bichi Special Hospital where medical professionals confirmed the unfortunate deaths of three individuals and the survival of one.
