A park adjacent to the courthouse where Donald Trump’s criminal trial is taking place became the scene of a shocking incident when a young man deliberately set himself on fire.

Witnesses, including journalists, observed the man throwing pamphlets into the air before dousing himself in lighter fluid and igniting the flames.

The motive behind his actions and his current condition remain unknown, as emergency services swiftly intervened and transported him on a stretcher.

Meanwhile, within the courtroom, the jury composition has been finalized, consisting of seven men and five women, along with six backup jurors.

Notably, this marks the first instance in which a US president, whether incumbent or former, has faced a criminal trial. The charges against Trump involve allegations of attempting to conceal a $130,000 (£104,300) hush-money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels prior to his victory in the 2016 election.

Trump maintains his plea of not guilty to 34 counts of fraud and vehemently denies any involvement in an affair with Daniels.
