Man Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for R@ping University Student

A court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the r@pe of a university student. Learn more about the case and the verdict delivered.

A Bayelsa State High Court sitting in Yenagoa has sentenced Daniel Amaso to life imprisonment for raping a 17-year-old female student of the Niger Delta State University, Amasoma.

The convict was charged with using a knife to forcibly enter the home of a 17-year-old boy in Amasoma community, Southern Ijaw State.

He is said to have forcibly raped her and stolen her mobile phone.

Amaso was arraigned before the Honourable Justice Christine Kombo-Enegesi on charges of rape, armed robbery and aggravated assault.

He was therefore convicted on three charges on Monday and sentenced to life imprisonment for rape and armed robbery and seven years for grievous bodily harm.
