Man reportedly burns his wife to death out of rage

After reportedly setting his wife, Risikat, on fire at their home on Ayide Osolo Street in Divine Estate in the Ijanikin neighbourhood of Lagos State, a guy going by the name of Akpos is on the run.

According to the information acquired, Akpos and Risikat got into a furious quarrel when they were at their home.

According to reports, as the fight heated up, Akpos poured gasoline on his wife and lit her flames out of fury.

Akpos is said to have fled the scene after committing the murder and left the woman for dead.

As the incident was being reported at the Ijanikin Police Station for inquiry, some good Samaritans allegedly transported the man to a local hospital for treatment.

Risikat had significant burns, according to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police public relations officer, who also added that she passed away while receiving medical attention in the hospital.

“A case was reported at the Ijanikin Police Station that a woman, Risikat, 48, allegedly had an altercation with her husband and in the course of that, he poured gasoline on his wife and set her ablaze. The main cause of the argument is still unknown because the husband is still on the run, but he is believed to have poured gasoline on his wife and set her ablaze.

She suffered severe physical burns, as a result, was taken to the hospital right away, but unfortunately, didn’t survive. The husband who is evading capture is being sought.
