A man identified as Clenard Parker, a convicted felon, drove a stolen 18-wheeler into a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) office in Brenham, Texas, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to 13 others. The incident took place after Parker was denied the renewal of his commercial driver’s license the day before.

The crash occurred on a Friday morning when a sheriff’s deputy chased the stolen truck to the DPS office. Parker, aged 42, deliberately crashed into the licensing office entrance after making a sharp right turn, according to DPS spokesman Sergeant Justin Ruiz.

All 14 individuals present in the building at the time sustained injuries, with six being transported to nearby hospitals and one succumbing to their injuries later on. The remaining eight victims received treatment at the scene. Parker had visited the same office the previous day and was informed that he did not qualify for a renewal of his commercial driver’s license.

Brenham, situated approximately 80 miles west of Houston, was the location of this tragic event. Mayor Atwood Kenjura mentioned that the situation could have been much worse if law enforcement officers had not acted swiftly to remove Parker from the stolen truck as he attempted to reverse and ram the building once more.

Parker has a criminal history dating back to 1999, with convictions for both felonies and misdemeanors. Previous charges against him include illegal possession of weapons and tampering with a government record.
