The Zamfara State Police Command confirmed the distressing event, with ASP Yazid Abubakar providing details to the press on Tuesday.
According to Abubakar, the attackers specifically targeted Nagoma, and upon facing resistance, they callously killed him before taking his wife and neighbour captive.
In a separate report from a security expert based in Maiduguri, Zagazola Makama, it was revealed that bandits infiltrated Gusau town in the early hours of Tuesday, around 2 am, and abducted several worshippers from a mosque while they were engaged in tahajjud prayers.
Obasanjonews.com also highlighted that bandits attacked a mosque in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, on Tuesday, kidnapping numerous worshippers during the congregational prayer, Tahajjud.
In response to the distressing events, Abubakar emphasized that the primary target of the bandits was Nagoma, clarifying that the mosque was not the focus of the attack.
He reassured the public that rescue operations were in progress, with authorities working diligently to apprehend the culprits and ensure the safe return of the abducted victims.
Abubakar stated, “The bandits did not target the mosque. They had a specific individual in mind, and unfortunately, it was the man who was attacked.
His wife and neighbour were taken. Our rescue team is actively involved in the situation, striving to bring the perpetrators to justice and secure the release of the abducted victims. An investigation is also underway.”
This incident echoes a similar occurrence in February when gunmen abducted worshippers from a mosque in Tsafe town, Zamfara State, during the morning prayer, leaving witnesses like Garba to recount the terror inflicted by the bandits as they forcibly took away unsuspecting individuals.
