The famed Ladipo Market in Lagos State was just reopened, and the Nigeria Police Force says it would look into a guy who was spotted firing an AK-47 while doing so in viral footage.
This was announced on Tuesday by the Force’s spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The Lagos State Command has received this and will take the appropriate measures. We’ll find the individual with the AK-47 and take the appropriate action. Thanks.

In September 2023, the Lagos State Government closed four marketplaces, including the Ladipo Market in the state’s Mushin region.
The market, which was one of the state’s major hubs for car parts, was shut down for a series of violations, including improper garbage management and disposal by vendors.
However, this week, the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and other state authorities reopened it.
Following the market’s reopening, ecstatic traders poured in in a festive atmosphere. An older man with an AK-47 weapon who fired it into the air while his coworkers cheered him on was one of many shown in viral footage documenting the market’s reopening.
Force spokesman (Adejobi) responded to the video on X by saying, “This has been reported to the Lagos state command for proper action. We’ll find the individual with the AK-47 and take the appropriate action. Thanks.
