Man enters a married woman’s room and tries to rape her

In the Mowe-Ofada neighbourhood of Ogun State, one Mr. Godstime Ekanem allegedly broke into the room of one Mrs. Jelila Oyinbo with the intention of raping her.

On September 28, Oyinbo, a resident of MTN Estate in Mowe-Ofada, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State, reported the incident to the police.

She claimed that despite her repeated warnings that she was married, he had continued to harass her sexually.

It was reported that Ekanem had maintained his resolve and persisted in making sexual attempts towards her.

According to a statement released on Friday by Omolola Odutola, the public information officer for the Ogun State Police, Ekanem broke into the woman’s marital home on Wednesday when her husband was out.

“Ekanem entered her marital residence on September 26 at around 8:00 a.m. with the intention of attacking her with illicit carnal knowledge of her.

“She wrestled with him and alerted her brother-in-law, one Michael Oyewole, who came running to the house to save Jelila, while Ekanem hid himself in the bathroom.

“Michael got into a fight with Ekanem inside the bathroom, during which he was struck by a hammer and received bruises on his hand. In retaliation, Michael slashed Ekanem severely on the head with a cutlass, according to the PPRO.

Odutola claimed that Ekanem left his shoes and phone in the woman’s room when he fled.

The statement said, “The Police have detained Michael Oyewole, and Ekanem has been transported to a hospital for treatment.”
