Usman’s body was transferred to Oladayo Hospital after the event, where the attending physician formally confirmed him dead, according to Odutola.
She continued by saying that the deceased’s remains had been transported to Jas Mortuary for an autopsy.
According to the statement, “The police have opened an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the drowning.”
In a related event, Odutola reported that on Thursday, while conducting a normal patrol near the toll gate via the Lagos-Ibadan motorway, police officers from the Gateway Trailer Park Division found an abandoned vehicle.
The abandoned grey Toyota Corolla was carefully transported to the police station where it was taken into custody and stored safely.
In order to allow a comprehensive investigation and guarantee justice is served, Odutola stated, “Members of the public with crucial information about the abandoned vehicle or the drowning incident should come forward and cooperate with the Divisional Police Officer.”
