In addition to this, he is accused of adding two plates of fish pepper soup to his unpaid bills. The defendant, who was charged with cheating, appeared before Upper Area Court 4 in Yola and pleaded guilty to the offense, which is contrary to Section 302 of the Penal Code Law. As a result, a remand order was issued for his detention.

David, originally from Karin Lamido in Taraba State, was brought before the Ibrahim Musa-led Upper Area Court in Yola by the Adamawa State Police Command.

The incident occurred on February 21, 2024, at a local establishment in Yola, where David ordered five plastic buckets of burukutu and two plates of fish pepper soup.

After consuming the beverages and food on the premises, he attempted to leave without settling the bill. However, he was apprehended and handed over to the police.

During the court proceedings, Sgt Kabiru Abubakar, the prosecuting police officer, informed the court that the defendant had dishonestly obtained the burukutu and fish pepper soup, which had a combined value of N6,600, from Felicity Sunday and Linda Ali.

The complainants reported the incident to the police, accusing David of refusing to pay for the items. As a result, David now faces charges of cheating and awaits further legal proceedings.
