Praise Daakian, a former chairman of the Community Development Committee, was allegedly abducted and buried alive in Kereken-Boue, Khana Local Government Area, of the state. The Rivers State Police Command has detained two people in connection with the incident.

Olatunji Disu, the Commissioner of Police, said this on Monday at his inaugural press conference in the state capital of Port Harcourt.

Elvis Gordon, 26, and Baridapdo Igia, 33, were named as the suspects.

According to the chief of police in Rivers, the accused first took N200,000 from the victim’s wife as ransom before burying him alive.

Disu said that two kidnappers were captured following a neighbourhood sweep, even though she also mentioned that the suspects had admitted to the murder.

“I had before me a security deficit in many areas of Rivers State on the day of resumption,” he said. Khana Local Government was one of those regions, and we sent in tactical units right once to put an end to the unrest.
