Man Allegedly Murders Pregnant Wife Over Affair with Brother
A pregnant woman was allegedly killed by her husband after suspicions arose of an affair with his younger brother. Find out more about this shocking case.
A 30-year-old man named Motunayo Olaniyi has been charged with the fatal stabbing of his newlywed wife, Olajumoke, at Amazing Grace Estate in Elepe, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The unfortunate event allegedly occurred on Friday after a heated argument between the couple. According to sources, Olaniyi attacked his 25-year-old wife, accusing her of being pregnant by his younger brother.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for Lagos State Police Command, confirmed that Motunayo repeatedly stabbed Olajumoke during their altercation. Subsequently, he locked her in their room and set it ablaze.
Hundeyin also revealed that after the attack, the suspect caused injuries to himself.
According to the statement, officers from the Ikorodu Division answered an emergency call and extinguished the fire. They discovered Olajumoke’s body with wounds on her abdomen.

A team of officers who responded to the scene put out the fire and found Olajumoke’s body. The suspect was then rescued, taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and later held in police custody.
Initial investigations revealed that Olaniyi caused minor injuries to himself after inflicting fatal wounds on his wife. Olajumoke’s body has been taken to the morgue at Ikorodu General Hospital for an autopsy, and inquiries are still underway.
A report by OBASANJONEWS indicates that a community source disclosed Olajumoke was six months pregnant when she passed away.
According to the source, the man accused his wife of being pregnant with his younger brother’s child. This was not the first time he had made such accusations before tragically killing her on Friday. His younger brother is in shock and unaware of these allegations, stating that he would have defended himself if given a chance.
Moreover, a police source revealed that earlier in the week Olaniyi had assaulted his wife while his mother-in-law was present. “The mother-in-law believed he was under the influence of an evil spirit and brought him to church for prayers. After coming home, she departed, which is when he attacked and killed his wife, accusing her of being unfaithful with his brother,” the source stated.
