Makinde proclaims Monday a public holiday in observance of Isese day

The 20th of August of each year is designated as Isese Day in Oyo State by Governor Seyi Makinde.

Makinde announced this on Friday.

According to OBASANJO NEWS24, state residents who follow traditional religion have recently wanted their own official holiday.

They have requested that the state government designate August 20 as their own public holiday in remembrance of Isese day.

By designating Monday, August 21, 2023 as the first public holiday to honour the day, the governor has now acceded to the traditional religion believers’ request.

He also said that the state would commemorate the 20th of August as a public holiday every year to honour Isese Day.

The statement from the governor’s office was signed by Professor Olanike Adeyemo, the secretary to the Oyo State government.

The state’s governor invited traditional worshippers to take advantage of the opportunity to pray for the peace, harmony, and stability of the state specifically and of the nation generally.
