Makinde forms a 15-member palliative care committee
A palliative committee for the Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (SAfER) has been established by Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde.
This is in accordance with a statement made on Monday in Ibadan by Mr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
SAfER is designed to lessen the impact of the elimination of gasoline subsidies and the subsequent economic hardships on state residents.
Segun Ogunwuyi, the chief of staff, is the chairman of the 15-member committee, and Prof. Musibau Babatunde,
Who will act as its Secretary is the State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning.
The Finance Commissioner, Mr. Akinola Ojo, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Olasunkanm Olaleye, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Segun Olayiwola, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, and the Special Adviser, Labour Matters, Mr. Bayo Titilola-Sodo are also members of the committee.
According to the statement, the committee also includes Chief Bayo Lawal, Senior Executive Assistant on General Duties, Alhaji Kolawole Gafar, Executive Assistant on Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, and Rtd CP Sunday Odukoya, Executive Assistant, Security.
Additionally, Bishop Daniel Oluwajimade, a representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and Alhaji Muniru Ogundipe, a representative of the Muslim Community, as well as Miss Ololade Ajibola, Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties.
As a member of the committee, Mr. Ademola Babalola will represent the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), while Mr. Jide Bamgbose will represent the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
The governor urged the committee to act quickly and effectively and suggested that they let the plight of the people inspire their loyalty.
On Tuesday, the committee will hold its first meeting.
