Gbenga Makanjuola, previously the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President of the 8th Senate, has stepped down from his position as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Makanjuola served two terms in the House of Representatives and maintained a strong relationship with former Senate president Bukola Saraki.

In both the 2019 and 2023 elections, he served as a Deputy Governorship candidate for the PDP twice.

No explanation was provided for his resignation or any indication of whether he will be affiliating with a different party.

Makanjuola has been acquitted of allegations of fraud amounting to N3.5 billion by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, following his recent release by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
