Residents of Kano, Funtua, and Zaria, among other places, are expected to experience power supply disruptions on Sunday and Monday due to significant relocation activities, according to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
The 330kV and 132kV tower relocation is the cause of the power loss, according to a statement released by TCN on Saturday.
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will be relocating some of its towers along the Kaduna-Kano 330kV transmission line due to the ongoing construction of a new rail line by the Federal Government,” the statement, which is signed by General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, says in full.

Consequently, on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M., there will be a 12-hour power outage. As a result, on the 132kV Zaria-Dangora Line, Kano will receive a limited load supply.
Similar to this, in order to make room for the railway project of the same name, several 132kV Towers on the 132kV Kaduna-Zaria-Funtua-Gusau Line will be relocated between Monday, October 30 and Wednesday, November 1st, 2023. On these days, the Kano-Tamburawa axis will supply Zaria and angora, while the Birnin Kebbi-Sokoto axis would supply Funtua and Gusau.
Following the completion of the tower relocation project, Kaduna Electric will be able to provide its clients with full supply again.
We apologise for any difficulty that the affected areas’ power consumers may have as a result of the relocation work.
