In addition to saving nine kidnap victims and neutralising ten terrorists, the soldiers of Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI (OPHD) have also retrieved weapons and ammunition, including functional motorcycles and communication devices.

The achievement was made during recent dry season clearance operations under the direction of Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding of the 8th Division of the Nigerian Army, according to a post shared on the army’s X handle on Thursday.

Notably, on January 3, 2024, the OPHD’s combined forces launched an offensive operation in the terrorist enclaves located in the Katsina state’s Batsari and Safana LGAs. Ten of the terrorists were neutralised during this operation, while others were wounded by gunshots and managed to escape.

Along with communication devices, cell phones, and military uniforms, the troops also found one AK-47 rifle, ammunition, seven Dane guns, three locally made guns, and other deadly weaponry. Four motorcycles were also found and burned on-site.

Similarly, on the same day, soldiers from Zamfara state’s Operation HADARIN DAJI carried out a search and rescue operation at the villages of Dansadau and Dandalla in the Maru Local Government Area. Nine kidnapped victims—five women and four babies—were freed during the operation.

“The terrorists left the victims behind after engaging in a gunfight with the tenacious troops.” A portion of the message stated, “The rescued victims were immediately reunited with their families at Magami.”

Major General Godwin Mutkut, the commander of Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI, praised the soldiers’ achievements and asked them to keep up the pace.
