Mah Lay accuses a fellow artist of stealing his album concept, sparking controversy and debate within the music industry.

Omah Lay, a singer from Nigeria, has claimed that someone he confided in about his upcoming album idea transformed it into their own album.

He stated that he had shared the idea with an unnamed colleague in order to collaborate. However, despite their original intentions, the artist went on to release an album featuring the very same idea they had discussed together.

During his appearance on the Zach Sang Show, Omah Lay mentioned that he was prompted to re-record his album due to the aforementioned incident.

He explained, “Although my song ‘Holy Ghost’ has a fresh tone, I had intended to produce the entire album with this new sound. However, at some point during its creation, I altered course.”

An artist I had shared an idea with put out an album using my concept, causing me to re-record mine.

I agreed to collaborate with a beloved artist who approached me. During our discussion, I revealed my vision for the sound we aimed to create together. However, after five months had passed since our conversation, he released an album that contained precisely the same sound ideas as mine.

“I had to remake my album, which will undoubtedly go down in the annals of Afrobeats history as the greatest.”
