Prior to the Imo State governorship election on November 11, Humphrey Anumudu had acquired the party’s form to run in the LP primary, but he passed away last week.
According to Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), the party would reimburse Humphrey Anumudu’s family for the N25 million nomination fee that was paid on his behalf as a party candidate for governor of Imo State.

After meeting with party members who had been elected to the National Assembly, Abure addressed the nation in Abuja on Tuesday. He said that none of the party’s freshly elected National Assembly members will leave to join another political party.

Abure said Tuesday in Abuja that the party decided to give the nomination money back to the dead person’s family to show that it cared about them.
Speaking to reporters, he added, “You may remember that one of our candidates passed away in Imo State. I’m happy to inform the general public, Labour Party family members, and his immediate family that the party would reimburse him for the N25 million he spent on his nomination fee.
“We believe that we must take these actions to help the family and demonstrate leadership with empathy and compassion, which is what the Labour Party stands for.”
