The claims made regarding Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate for the general elections in 2023, by its estranged publicity secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, have been deemed doubtful by the Labour Party (LP).

Arabambi is a member of the Lamidi Apapa-led party group.

Arabambi allegedly said that Obi was posing as his deceased older brother and was also for his life, according to the party.

But in a statement released on Monday by Yunusa Tanko, the Chief Spokesperson for Obi-Datti Media, the LP called the accusation a hoax and a slapstick comedy from hell.

Tanko alleged that Arabambi was at the vanguard of nefarious character assassination efforts to tarnish the identity of its presidential candidate, with hatchet jobbers hired as political hirelings and buccaneers.

The spokesman claimed that despite knowing he was not a party member, Arabambi had dishonestly continued to identify himself as a member and publicity secretary of LP.

While denying the accusations against Obi, Tanko noted that one of his older brothers, who passed away, attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN years before him and studied computer technology while Obi studied philosophy.

Regarding Arabambi’s assertion that Obi was out for his life, Tanko referred to it as absurd and maintained that Obi’s non-violent demeanour even in the face of great provocation made it impossible to dismiss such a ludicrous and unsupported accusation.

As a result, he pleaded with the general public and the media in particular to regard Apapa and Arabambi as imposters who go around using the name of the party to say bad things about Peter Obi.

A portion of the statement stated: “Some political hirelings, buccaneers engaging in menial character assassination activities, have recently been let loose dubiously allegedly to tarnish the name of our Presidential candidate, Peter Obi. Abayomi Arambabi, who dubiously continues to identify himself even as a member and publicity secretary of the Labour Party although he knows he is not a member of the party, is in the head of these vicious hatchet jobbers.

“Everything about fictionalisation and the turmoil in the party was put to rest after a string of rulings from the Supreme Court of Nigeria regarding the Labour Party.

“But to our greatest surprise within the party, several media houses continued to link expelled non-members as members, needlessly and ineffectively seeking to cast doubt on the party.

“Chief Lamidi Apapa and Arambabi have been using the party’s name for commercial purposes and continuously criticising our flag bearer, who we are proud to report is the most well-liked and popular politician in Nigeria right now.

They stated that Obi was impersonating his deceased older brother in one of his works of literature, which was a farce and a slapstick comedy from hell. One of Obi’s older brothers, who passed away, attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) years before Obi and studied computer science, but Obi studied philosophy. Obi’s oldest brother is still alive.

“Arambabi asserts that Obi is pursuing him as his shadow pursues him. This is a ridiculous claim because OBI’s amiable attitude towards politics and his non-violent stance, even in the face of extreme provocation like the flagrant theft of his mandate in cooperation with INEC, make it obvious that such a ludicrous and unsupported accusation cannot be taken seriously.

As Obi continues to ask people to check his background, a Peter Obi from 45 years ago was unexpectedly disclosed last weekend by none other than Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo, a Nigerian who serves as the Pope’s ambassador to the Czech Republic. Speaking spontaneously, the esteemed clergyman attested to Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, who has consistently supported society for many years. He claimed that it is in Peter Obi’s nature to assist and care for those around him.

“This is the man; they are working hard to tarnish his reputation, but they have not discovered anything negative about him and instead have turned to fabricating and making up stories. Obiora Ifoh, our acting publicity secretary, is the national publicity secretary of the Labour Party and is standing by my side in this photo.

“I am, therefore, by this press conference at our national party headquarters urging the public and particularly the media houses to treat this person as Labour Party impersonators, which they are.”
