LP refuses to accept appeal court ruling on Nwokocha’s Senate position in Abia Central

The Labour Party’s Abia State branch has stated that Senator Darlington Nwokocha remains in the Senate, arguing that the decision made by the Appeal Court on Saturday to remove him was erroneous and should not be upheld.

The LP family in Abia has reportedly been in disbelief since hearing of Nwokocha’s removal on Saturday, according to the party.

At a news conference in Umuahia, Ceakay Igara, the party’s chairman in Abia State, revealed the LP’s stance.

Igara asserted that the judgement was smuggled in and called the Appeal Court’s decision “judicial rascality,” citing the failure to make the Certified True Copy available.

He pointed out that there was no justification for using the same internal party dispute to remove Nwokocha because the Supreme Court had already resolved the issues surrounding Section 77 of the Electoral Act in a number of rulings.

He added that the ruling amounted to an imposition on the Abia Central community.

The LP Chairman implored the panellists to turn around and send Nwokocha back to the red chamber.

We are more horrified by the judiciary’s smugness, particularly when it comes to imposing harsh and contentious rulings.

He ought to go back and reverse himself because Section 77 served as the foundation for the entire ruling that day.

The head of the Abia LP stated, “We know Senator Darlington has not been removed; he remains our only Senator for Abia Central.”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, on the other hand, has been celebrating the ruling that reinstated party candidate Austin Akobundu as the senator for Abia Central.
