The LP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, expressed confidence in resolving the party’s leadership crisis alongside Governor Alex Otti of Abia State and other key stakeholders.
Obi mentioned that, in accordance with the LP’s constitution, he, Otti, and the party’s NEC will convene to address the ongoing leadership challenges within the party.
Emphasising the importance of stakeholder involvement, Obi highlighted the decision-making process regarding the retention of LP’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, as a collective responsibility.
During a press interaction following a meeting with the NLC Transition Committee, Obi reiterated his commitment to resolving the party’s internal issues through inclusive decision-making processes.
Despite the NLC Transition Committee’s attempt to take over the LP secretariat, Obi and other stakeholders were engaged in a peace meeting to address the leadership crisis.
Obi underscored the significance of unity among stakeholders in overcoming the leadership challenges within the Labour Party, emphasising the need for collective decision-making and adherence to the party’s constitution.
He highlighted the importance of unity and inclusivity within the party, stating that disagreements and protests are natural within a family but can be resolved through dialogue and understanding among all members.
