On Tuesday, Senator Nenadi Usman, the Chairman of the Labour Party’s Caretaker Committee, announced that her committee plans to appeal the Federal High Court in Abuja’s decision endorsing Julius Abure’s leadership.

In a statement she personally signed, Usman mentioned that she met with Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate; Abia State Governor Alex Otti; and Senator Darlington Nwokocha (Secretary of the LP Caretaker Committee) to discuss the judgment.

The former finance minister acknowledged that the ruling in favor of upholding the Nnewi Convention of the party was issued before the formation of the Caretaker Committee. The leaders have decided to contest this judgement.
