Local Hunters Rescue Abducted Wedding Guests in Kwara
Heroic efforts by local hunters in Kwara lead to the rescue of abducted wedding guests, highlighting the role of community action in combating insecurity.
Local hunters and vigilantes have successfully rescued five wedding guests who were abducted while traveling from Kogi State to the Odo-Owa community in Kwara State.
The individuals abducted by gunmen last Saturday around 4 PM at Obbo-Ayegunle in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State were rescued on Tuesday by local hunters and vigilantes.
The kidnappers demanded a ransom of N100 million for the victims, who were all members of the same family from the Odo-Owa community.
Reports from Ilorin on Wednesday indicate that the Chairman of Oke-Ero Local Government Area has visited the hospital to meet with the victims currently receiving medical treatment.
According to unconfirmed reports, in addition to the five abductees, eight more captives were rescued by the hunters and vigilantes.
Attempts to contact DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, the spokesperson for the state police command in Ilorin, on Wednesday for a response regarding the development were unsuccessful.
