This summer, the Saudi Pro League has set their sights on Liverpool’s captain Virgil van Dijk. The PIF approached the English club and initially requested an evaluation of Virgil’s possible departure, with a proposed offer of approximately €55 million (£46.3m).

The Saudi negotiator has expressed that the current figure is excessively high and they have requested some time to evaluate their potential next steps internally.

If the requested amount is considered too high, it may pose a significant threat to the negotiation. The PIF has indicated that they will back away from discussions regarding Van Dijk unless there is a substantial reduction in cost.
