Discover the shocking tale of deceit where a father and son duo are implicated in a massive fraud. Uncover the details of their scheme.

Last week, a tweet by Bello El Rufai – son of a former Kaduna State governor and member of the House of Representatives – went viral. Although I didn’t see it initially, various people including an ex-minister forwarded it to me with comments like “This young man needs to be taught a lesson.”

The contentious tweet mentioned leaving work early for bidding farewell at the airport while expressing love and support from many individuals. Additionally, he shared about laughter over someone named Sam who was described as shameless even in his seventies.

The lawmaker’s conduct in today’s democracy is brought to attention by this incident. The father has been charged with embezzling more than N400 billion, and his son advocates for him on social media. Is it appropriate to display such a family dynamic publicly? If the father is accused of theft, does that make his offspring untrustworthy too? This raises doubts about the integrity of the entire clan.

The allegations of theft and dishonesty against Bello’s father are grave, casting doubt on the public figure who defends him. Their relationship and conduct leave much to be desired, reflecting unfavorably upon their character.

The accusations have tarnished their family’s reputation in the eyes of others—dishearteningly so given that they’re occupying influential positions imbued with power.
