Libyan Minister Engages Syrian Officials in Talks on Security Issues

A Libyan minister meets with Syrian officials to discuss mutual security concerns, aiming to strengthen cooperation between the two nations.

The Libyan State Minister for Communications and Political Affairs arrived in Damascus on Saturday to meet with newly appointed Syrian officials.

At the Al-Shaab Palace in Damascus, Libyan State Minister Walid Al-Lafi engaged in discussions with Ahmad al-Sharaa, leader of Syria’s Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS).

After the meeting, Al-Lafi informed reporters that he had talked with the new Syrian officials about military and security matters concerning both countries.

“The meeting held significant importance due to its timing and the overlapping matters between Libya and Syria, particularly concerning military and security issues. Additionally, it was critical because of the regional impact resulting from major events in Syria,” stated Walid Al-Lafi.

After the fall of former Syrian President Bashar Assad’s government, foreign and Arab officials are converging on Syria, committing to collaboration and backing for rebuilding the war-torn nation as well as ensuring a peaceful transition of power.
