On Saturday, the local council elections in Ebonyi State resulted in the triumph of The All Progressives Congress (APC).

On Sunday, the Ebonyi Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC) announced that APC had emerged victorious in all 13 Chairmanship positions and secured 171 seats for Ward Councillors.

In Abakaliki, the announcement was made by Jossey Eze, who serves as Chairman of EBSIEC. He went on to disclose that a total of three political parties – namely APC, APGA and LP – participated in the electoral contest.

According to Eze, the results for both chairmanship and councillorship races reported by Returning Officers in different councils and wards have been approved and accepted by the commission.

Eze commended the peacefulness of the election process and complimented both security agencies and other stakeholders for their invaluable support. Expressing contentment with how things transpired, he also expressed gratitude towards everyone involved in organizing the elections for encouraging and backing him up.

Eze expressed gratitude towards the state government for abstaining from involvement in the election proceedings, as it played a pivotal role in ensuring its legitimacy, equity and openness.

He stressed that even though the elections have ended, everyone who took part is a winner. He urged those who won to be comprehensive in their approach and make certain that democratic advantages are extended to every level of society.

The following are the winners, as declared by returning officers in local government areas:
