OGSIEC updates LG poll guidelines by reducing the age requirement to 25 years. Explore how this change affects upcoming elections.

OGSIEC has modified the age eligibility for hopefuls participating in the local government elections scheduled on November 16, now permitting candidates as young as 25 years old instead of requiring a minimum age of 30.

On Friday, OBASANJONEWS acquired a statement that was signed by Babatunde Osibodu, the Chairman of the Commission.

According to Osibodu, the revision of regulations for Local Government elections was based on a careful examination of applicable laws. The purpose was to align them with Section 7(4) & 106 of the Nigerian Constitution which requires a candidate to be at least 25 years old in order to qualify for election.
