Nigerians have been urged to respect the ruling of the presidential election petition tribunal and let the rule of law run its course, according to the Kaduna State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. John Joseph Hayab.

Speaking to reporters in Kaduna, the CAN Chairman said, “We should respect the court system as Nigerians for the sake of peace and peaceful coexistence of the nation.

“Nigerians must come together and support the individual for whom the court found in favour rather than allowing themselves to be used to further divide the nation based on political differences.

Politicians come and go, but the nation endures. In order to prevent a few self-centered people from confusing the nation, we must look within.

Politicians and all Nigerians, Hayab argued, should embrace the tribunal’s ruling.

“Let’s put politics aside so that our nation can advance, now that the tribunal has issued its ruling.

“Where there is a window to appeal the judgement, those who challenged the election results should explore such an avenue instead of a violent approach that may lead to chaos, the loss of lives, and destruction of property,” he suggested.

In sportsmanship, there will always be a winner and a loser, he urged politicians to understand.

“My sincere recommendation is that we embrace the logical approach to problem-solving rather than engaging in confrontation that results in the wanton devastation of lives and property.

“To overcome our divisions, Nigerians must come together as a family.

“Nigeria has suffered numerous setbacks across the board due to the nation’s division.

He went on to say, “Instead of dividing the country based on political, religious, and sectional interests, we should put the interests of the country first above our own.”
