During last week’s presidential elections for 2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, claimed to have gained new insights.
This was said on Saturday during a press conference by Yakubu Mahmood, the chairman of INEC.
Mahmood acknowledged that the polling on February 25th had logistical and technological problems.
The already difficult atmosphere in which Nigerian elections are typically held was made even more difficult, according to Mahmood, by the logistical problems, electoral technology, the behavior of some poll staff at various levels, and the attitude of some party agents and supporters.
There have been “many lessons learned,” he continued.
Mahmood stated that the difficulties would be resolved “at the general election containing the largest number of constituencies, i.e. 28 State Governorship elections and 993 State Houses of Assembly seats.”
